As a new season starts, it's also time for your car's seasonal maintenance. Prepare your car for the spring using these simple tips.

Spring Maintenance Tips for Your Vehicle

As winter finally comes to an end, it's time to prepare for the spring. For your vehicle, this means it's time for a bit of seasonal maintenance. To help you prepare your car for the new season, check out these simple maintenance tasks.

Replace the Tires

If you changed your tires out for winter tires last season, it is now time to return to your regular tires. While winter tires are great for the freezing conditions of the season, they won't' be as great on warmer roads. In fact, these types of tires won't be able to grip the road well and will wear out faster on warmer asphalt. Because of this, it's important that you use the proper tires for the season. If you used all season tires during the winter, take a look at their current condition. You may have to scrub them down in order to get a good look at them. Look at their tread, check out how worn they are, and look out for any damage they may have suffered on the winter roads. If they're really worn, it may be time for a new set. If you notice uneven wear, have your alignment checked out.

Look Under the Hood

Pop open your car's hood and take a look at the condition of the different components under there. Check on your hoses, belts, and other details to ensure things are able to perform their job smoothly. If you notice any puddles forming under your car, figure out where the leak is coming from and get it fixed as soon as possible. While checking under the hood, be sure to also check the condition and level of all your fluids. Some of these may be at their end and should be replaced while others may just need a bit of topping off.

Get a Synthetic Oil Change

One fluid that may need to be changed this spring is your car's oil. After a long and rough winter, your oil may be a bit dirty and ready to be replaced. If this is the case, be sure to give your car a synthetic oil change. When compared to a conventional oil, a synthetic oil will last longer and keep your engine better protected under all conditions. Prepare your vehicle for a great spring with a synthetic oil change. To find a great synthetic oil for your car, contact AMSOIL Dealer, Dwight Smith at (702) 561-3706. Test the Battery

The cold winter months can negatively affect your battery because of the added strain caused by the freezing temperatures. If your battery made it through the winter, you should still have it checked out in the spring. Before taking any long road trips, have your mechanic perform a volt test on your battery just to be sure it still has plenty of power left in it. This can help ensure you don't get stranded on the road because of a dead battery. While you're at it, be sure to also clean your battery's connections and ensure everything is properly connected.

Take Care of Interior Cleaning

Cleaning your car isn't just for aesthetic purposes, it can also help you car stay in better shape for longer and even help it retain its resale value if you plan to sell it in the future. Once you're done with the maintenance work required to keep your car's systems in check, move on to getting your car clean. Start by wiping down the interior surfaces and vacuuming areas like the carpet, seats, and trunk. Throw away any trash you find and store the winter items you've been carrying around in your trunk.

Get a Car Wash

Once the interior is clean, focus on getting the exterior just as spotless. You can get your car professionally washed or you can take on this task yourself. Whatever you decide, be sure that the undercarriage of your car is also cleaned. Driving through corrosive substances like snow and road salts during the winter can result in damage to your undercarriage if you fail to clean it. Finish it off with a layer of wax. Not only will this make your car nice and shiny, it also works as a protective barrier against corrosive substances like to upcoming spring showers and sunny days.
